Description:
The Staff Backend Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining foundational services and capabilities that support engineering teams and drive product success.
This position requires leveraging deep technical expertise and leadership skills to influence platform architecture and guide engineering practices.
Responsibilities include ensuring the resiliency, scalability, and performance of the platform.
The engineer will work with technologies such as Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Go, Node, TypeScript, Ruby on Rails, React, PostgreSQL, and Redis.
Daily tasks involve architectural design, providing technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, planning and execution of initiatives, and developing a vision and strategy for services.
Requirements:
A deep understanding of distributed systems and cloud computing is essential.
Experience in performing major architectural refactors is required, with a bonus for experience in refactoring monolithic applications into microservices.
Candidates must have experience building, operating, and maintaining high-traffic, high-availability platforms and systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems to identify root causes and implement effective solutions are necessary.
Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and propose new solutions that align with organizational goals is required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Proven collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively within remote and distributed teams are necessary.
Leadership capabilities with experience mentoring and guiding engineering teams are required.
Candidates must be adaptable to new technologies, changing requirements, and evolving organizational needs.
Availability for participation in an on-call rotation is required to respond to business-critical alerts outside of regular working hours.
