Description:

  • Notabene is on a mission to integrate crypto into the everyday economy, serving over 100 customers globally, including financial institutions and fintechs.
  • The Staff Backend Engineer will play a crucial role in shaping secure and scalable crypto transaction processing.
  • This position involves architecting, building, and maintaining core transaction-processing services to enhance scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • The role includes designing high-throughput, low-latency microservices for the Transactions team and contributing to a secure transaction authorization platform.
  • Responsibilities include collaborating with various teams to gather requirements, developing the Transactions team roadmap, and driving large-scale technical projects from inception to deployment.
  • The Staff Engineer will also mentor and support other engineers within the organization.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a senior or staff-level backend engineering role.
  • Proficiency in back-end languages such as Node.js, Typescript, or Deno is required, with Rust or Go experience being a significant advantage.
  • A deep understanding of cryptography and public/private key encryption/signing is essential, along with knowledge of decentralized identity and verifiable credentials.
  • Extensive experience with PostgreSQL and SQL optimization is necessary, as well as the ability to architect and troubleshoot high-throughput transactional databases.
  • Expertise in event-driven microservices development and hands-on experience with Kafka is required.
  • Candidates should have experience deploying and managing services on AWS, with knowledge of container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker being highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of security principles related to secure data handling and encryption in financial or transactional data systems is important.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote-first environment are essential.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills are required for effective collaboration across teams.
