Description:

Quora is a remote-first company, allowing this position to be performed remotely from multiple countries.
The Staff Backend Engineer will work on the Poe product, which is a platform for AI language models.
The role involves empowering bot creators and developers by building abstractions and tooling for bot onboarding.
Responsibilities include collaborating with leading LLM providers, improving the external API, and driving feature planning and backend implementation.
The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams and provide technical guidance and mentorship.
Participation in on-call responsibilities is required to ensure a reliable product.

Requirements:

Candidates must be available for meetings during Quora's coordination hours (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time).
A minimum of 6 years of experience with large scale codebases and systems, particularly web applications, is required.
At least 3 years of experience in Python or a similar programming language is necessary.
Candidates should be able to reason about big-picture goals and identify opportunities to derisk projects.
Experience leading project teams in a consumer internet or technology company is essential.
A passion for learning and improving oneself and the team is required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
