Remote Staff Backend Engineer, Core Services

Description:

• ClickUp is seeking a driven Staff Software Engineer to join the Core Services team.
• The role involves designing and delivering scalable distributed shared services used by other engineering teams.
• Responsibilities include building upon and integrating customer feedback into API tooling and services.
• The engineer will create new architectural foundations and mission-critical distributed systems while collaborating with other teams.
• The position requires working within an agile scrum-based engineering team and reporting to the Senior Manager of Core Services.
• The engineer must uphold high levels of customer satisfaction in all tasks.
• The role includes advocating, creating, and maintaining API governance across engineering through collaboration, automation, and outreach.
• The engineer will own integration within the API Gateway layer and manage API lifecycles from design to production.
• Identifying improvements to the design and implementation of various new and existing critical shared services is also a key responsibility.
• The engineer will help grow the infrastructure engineering organization's shared services relied upon by other engineering teams to accelerate product development.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience is required.
• A strong understanding of API standards, design approaches, and integration patterns is necessary.
• Candidates must have a strong understanding of CAP Theorem and distributed systems design patterns.
• A strong understanding of Kafka and related event-based patterns is required.
• Proficiency in TypeScript is essential.
• Excellent communication skills are a must.
• A strong sense of ownership and accountability is expected.
• Candidates should have a strong understanding of developer experience in everything they build.
• A pragmatic approach to software design, development, and delivery is desirable.
• Experience working with and designing Backend for Frontend (BFF) patterns is also a plus.
