Description:

We are seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to collaborate with the founding team in creating a high-impact, scalable streaming platform.
The role involves designing, developing, and optimizing core systems, particularly focusing on stream processing and data storage.
This is a hands-on position where you will take ownership of services from design through to deployment and ongoing operations.
You will partner with the founding team to build and iterate on a mission-critical product.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, and optimizing key backend components of our streaming and data systems.
You will own backend services in production, which includes on-call responsibilities, as our engineers are accountable for the software they build.
Continuous improvement of system performance, reliability, and scalability is expected.

Requirements:

A minimum of 6 years of proven experience writing scalable, high-performance backend code in Golang and Python is required.
Familiarity with observability and telemetry tools, particularly OpenTelemetry, is necessary.
The ability to learn and apply new technologies to enhance system capabilities is essential.
An independent, self-directed mindset with strong judgment on when to optimize versus when to ship is important.
A deep commitment to code quality, testing, and comprehensive documentation is required.
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is mandatory.
