Description:
This is a remote position for candidates in the Canadian Eastern time zones.
As a Staff Software Engineer in the Enterprise Data Sources squad, you will lead the development and enhancement of a diverse portfolio of enterprise plugins that retrieve data for Grafana dashboards used globally.
The team focuses on building new enterprise-grade data source plugins, improving existing ones, and ensuring seamless customer experiences.
A key aspect of the role is to guarantee the smooth operation and reliability of plugins in the Grafana Cloud.
You will collaborate with the Data Sources team and other squads within the Grafana division to drive innovation and solve complex engineering challenges.
The team is evolving its ways of working to ensure scalability, inclusivity, and adaptability to the needs of the team and users.
Some of the data source plugins owned include AppDynamics, Adobe Analytics, Azure DevOps, BigQuery, and many others.
A typical day may involve building enterprise Grafana plugins, innovating the plugin system, supporting operations and reliability, suggesting process improvements, providing technical support in customer escalations, and working closely with the Grafana Division.
Requirements:
You must be comfortable working in a remote-first company with a focus on collaboration, friendliness, kindness, and respect.
Solid professional experience as a Backend Engineer with strong expertise in Go and backend services is required.
Some experience with frontend technologies is valued to bridge the gap between backend systems and user-facing features.
Strong coding skills and operational experience are necessary; you should have been responsible for operating the software you built.
Experience participating in on-call rotations to support software in production is required.
A good understanding of a user-centered software development process is essential.
You should be able to understand users’ context and goals to build valuable solutions.
The ability to transform ideas into working code, design solutions, gather feedback, and deliver large projects is crucial.
You must be self-driven and understand the importance of feedback loops in making roadmap decisions.
Clear communication of design decisions in written and spoken English is necessary.
An interest in the three observability pillars and how they integrate to build powerful workflows is important.
Experience in backend technologies, particularly strong expertise in Go, is required, along with familiarity with containerization, orchestration, CI/CD, DevOps, and monitoring tools.
Familiarity with frontend technologies like TypeScript, React, Redux, and RxJS is a nice-to-have.

The base compensation range for this role is CAD 174,176 - CAD 209,011, with actual compensation varying based on level, experience, and skillset.
