Remote Staff Backend Engineer (Java) - Ecosystem Experiences (Open to remote across ANZ)

Description:

• As a Staff Backend Engineer in the Ecosystem Experiences team at Canva, you will collaborate with leads, designers, and product managers to create a delightful experience for external developers.
• You will define the technical roadmap and architecture for the Canva Ecosystem, focusing on ensuring secure and reliable apps and integrations on the developer platform.
• Facilitate cross-team collaboration to drive new ideas and improvements across the Ecosystem, Platform, and Security groups.
• Advocate for engineering needs to non-technical team members and mentor software engineers in software development and privacy engineering practices.
• Bring experience in security and platform reliability in an ecosystem or systems integration environment.
• Implement server- and client-side web security measures like auth specifications, Content Security Policies, CORS, and XSS protection.
• Passionate about building a developer platform and mentoring a team of software engineers.
• Collaborate effectively with various partners such as product managers, security, and platforms.
• Possess a strong understanding of computer science and engineering fundamentals, including concurrency, data structures, and design patterns.
• Work with Java and TypeScript/React in Canva's core technology environment.

Requirements:

• Experience in security and platform reliability in an ecosystem or systems integration environment.
• Proficiency in implementing server- and client-side web security measures.
• Passion for building a developer platform and mentoring software engineers.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with different teams and partners.
• Strong grasp of computer science and engineering fundamentals.
• Familiarity with Java and TypeScript/React.
