Description:

  • Help Scout is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer proficient in Java and Kotlin to join their remote team.
  • The role involves building AI-enabled software applications and APIs against highly scalable systems to enhance customer productivity and service quality.
  • The engineer will collaborate with a diverse team of about 50 people, including JVM, JavaScript, and PHP Engineers, project and product managers, and designers.
  • Responsibilities include making key decisions on implementation, testing, backlog prioritization, code reviews, and architectural decisions.
  • The engineer will participate in an iterative software approach, focusing on remote, agile development and autonomous work in a trust-based environment.
  • The position requires making data-driven improvements to systems and quantitatively measuring success.
  • The engineer will provide support focusing on performance, security, and usability to ensure a magical customer experience.
  • The role includes challenges from the product team and collaboration with technically-committed founders to create impactful solutions globally.
  • The engineer will also partner with the Talent team to assist in hiring future team members as needed.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot is required to architect robust and scalable solutions.
  • Experience in crafting customer-focused solutions and familiarity with the JVM ecosystem is essential, along with comfort in handling high traffic volumes.
