Description:
Notabene is on a mission to integrate crypto into the everyday economy, serving over 100 customers globally, including financial institutions and fintechs.
As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in shaping secure and scalable crypto transaction processing.
You will join the transactions team, responsible for the reliable processing of high-throughput transaction data worldwide.
Your responsibilities will include architecting, building, and maintaining core transaction-processing services to enhance scalability, reliability, and performance.
You will set technical direction, mentor team members, and optimize architecture to adapt to a fast-paced market.
You will design, build, and maintain high-throughput, low-latency microservices for the transaction authorization platform.
You will collaborate with product, engineering, compliance, and customer-facing teams to gather requirements and prioritize projects.
You will develop and execute the Transactions team roadmap in alignment with business priorities and strategic objectives.
You will scope and drive large-scale technical projects from inception to deployment, delivering ongoing improvements.
You will mentor and support engineers across the Notabene engineering organization.
Requirements:
You must have 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a senior or staff-level backend engineering role.
You should have a proven track record in building and optimizing high-throughput, distributed systems.
You must be highly proficient in back-end languages such as Node.js, Typescript, or Deno, with the ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
You should have expertise in event-driven microservices development, with hands-on experience using Kafka or equivalent technologies.
You must have extensive experience with PostgreSQL, SQL optimization, and architecting high-throughput transactional databases.
You should have hands-on experience deploying and managing services on AWS, with a solid understanding of container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker.
You must have a strong understanding of security principles, particularly around secure data handling and encryption in financial or transactional data systems.
You should possess strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a global, remote-first company.
You must have excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and departments.
