Description:
As a Staff Backend Software Engineer at GameChanger, you will be part of the A-Team responsible for acquiring and activating basketball teams at scale.
You will be in charge of team management, notifications, and third-party integrations related to tournaments.
Your role involves setting the long-term technical direction and establishing APIs for third-party integrations.
You will make architectural decisions within the backend to support web, iOS, and Android clients.
Responsibilities include developing and maintaining scalable, robust, and efficient backend services.
You will drive changes to the API and SDK for server/client communication and lead architectural decisions for codebase growth.
Improving system performance, reliability, scalability, and developing new features are key aspects of the role.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions is essential.
Ensuring system security, data privacy compliance, participating in code reviews, and maintaining technical documentation are part of the job.
Requirements:
7+ years of experience in a software development role.
5+ years of experience with Node.js or another backend technology.
3+ years of experience leading and implementing complex designs.
Experience scaling a codebase to a large number of users and engineers.
Successful projects utilizing TypeScript and Node.js or another backend technology.
Strong background in writing scalable, performant server-side code.
Leadership skills, ownership mindset, outstanding problem-solving abilities, and clear communication skills.
Experience mentoring engineers and creating collaborative solutions to complex problems.
Preferred experience with TypeScript and deploying systems in an AWS environment.
