Description:

  • As a Staff Backend Software Engineer at GameChanger, you will be part of the A-Team responsible for acquiring and activating basketball teams at scale.
  • You will be in charge of team management, notifications, and third-party integrations related to tournaments.
  • Your role involves setting the long-term technical direction and establishing APIs for third-party integrations.
  • You will make architectural decisions within the backend to support web, iOS, and Android clients.
  • Responsibilities include developing and maintaining scalable, robust, and efficient backend services.
  • You will drive changes to the API and SDK for server/client communication and lead architectural decisions for codebase growth.
  • Improving system performance, reliability, scalability, and developing new features are key aspects of the role.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions is essential.
  • Ensuring system security, data privacy compliance, participating in code reviews, and maintaining technical documentation are part of the job.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in a software development role.
  • 5+ years of experience with Node.js or another backend technology.
  • 3+ years of experience leading and implementing complex designs.
  • Experience scaling a codebase to a large number of users and engineers.
  • Successful projects utilizing TypeScript and Node.js or another backend technology.
  • Strong background in writing scalable, performant server-side code.
  • Leadership skills, ownership mindset, outstanding problem-solving abilities, and clear communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and creating collaborative solutions to complex problems.
  • Preferred experience with TypeScript and deploying systems in an AWS environment.
