Varo is an entirely new kind of bank that is all digital, mission-driven, FDIC insured, and designed for the way customers live their lives.
The Data Engineering Team is building an entire bank from scratch to improve the financial well-being of customers.
The Staff Cloud Database Engineer will manage cloud database infrastructure and collaborate with IT, Engineering, QA, and Analytics teams.
Responsibilities include understanding database requirements, planning capacity, executing builds, and providing consultation on database design and performance.
The role involves troubleshooting issues, scaling database clusters, providing regular training, and monitoring hardware and database performance.
The engineer will identify and resolve database contention and performance issues and provide alerts for critical events.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 3+ years of experience in Python programming.
A minimum of 3+ years of Postgres Database Administration experience on RDS is required.
Candidates should have 3+ years of AWS Redshift Database Administration experience.
A minimum of 5+ years of experience with systems administration in a Linux environment is necessary.
Candidates must have 3+ years of experience on AWS, particularly with IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, and DMS.
A solid understanding of distributed computing environments is required.
Experience in database administration activities such as installation, configuration, backup & recovery, query optimizations, and managing user permissions is essential.
Candidates should have experience with query analyzers and query tuning.
Experience in implementing different types of replication models like Snapshot, Merge, and Transactional is also required.

The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $210,000 per year, based on function, level, and geographic location.
Final offer amounts will be determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise.
