Description:
Base is looking for a Staff Data Engineer to help bring a million developers and a billion users onchain.
The data engineering team is responsible for developing and maintaining robust data pipelines, building trusted data sources, and creating analytics/data products to empower users via self-serve analytics.
Key responsibilities include building tools and products that enhance data science productivity, enable self-serve analytics, and ensure data reliability and quality, specifically dealing with blockchain data.
Responsibilities include designing data models to support data scientists, building tooling and pipelines for blockchain data, creating data quality measurement mechanisms, and applying blockchain knowledge to solve problems creatively.
The role requires cross-functional collaboration with data engineers, data scientists, and various analytics teams to ensure alignment on priorities and deliverables.
The goal is to enable stakeholders to self-serve their own analytics by making blockchain data accessible.
Requirements:
Candidates must have experience with blockchain data, including knowledge of blocks, transactions, token transfers, and contract calls.
Proficiency in Python is required, with experience in Go considered a plus.
Expert SQL experience is necessary for querying, transformation, and performance optimization, with familiarity in graph databases and key-value stores being advantageous.
Experience with data compute frameworks such as Spark, Flink, or Beam is a plus.
Candidates should have experience in designing, building, and optimizing ETL/ELT data pipelines for large datasets, including both batch and streaming processes.
Familiarity with Apache Airflow or similar pipeline orchestration tools is required.
Experience with data visualization tools like Superset, Hex, Looker, or Python libraries is necessary.
Understanding of data modeling best practices, including star and snowflake schemas, is required, with experience in blockchain or financial data modeling being a plus.
Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential for translating business requirements into technical solutions.
Knowledge of fundamental DevOps practices, including unit testing, CI/CD, and git repository management, is required.
Expertise in leveraging LLMs and AI tools in workflows is a plus.
Benefits:
The target annual salary for this position ranges from $207,000 to $244,000 USD, depending on work location.
Full-time offers include a target bonus, target equity, and benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
