Description:
Opala is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join their remote team, focusing on delivering secure solutions for complex data challenges in healthcare.
The role involves providing technical leadership for the data team and managing the analysis, design, development, deployment, and maintenance of the data-hub and its integrations.
Responsibilities include collaborating with product and business teams to outline design specifications, development schedules, and refining user stories for efficient solution development.
The engineer will provide technical guidance, design templates, code patterns, and data patterns for the team.
Building end-to-end ETL pipelines for various data marts, warehouses, and exports is a key responsibility.
The role requires performing data analysis and development tasks to support ELT/ETL data movement and database development.
The engineer will create complex analytic visualizations around patient, payer, and provider data sets.
Supporting all SDLC activities in accordance with industry best practices is essential.
The position involves conducting investigations and tests of considerable complexity and troubleshooting complex problems while providing customer support for software issues.
Maintaining current knowledge of relevant technology and reviewing existing data pipelines to recommend improvements is also part of the job.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 10+ years of relevant experience in data engineering.
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant work experience is required.
At least 5 years of experience in building ETL/ELT processes is necessary.
Candidates should have 5+ years of experience developing with relational and non-relational databases, including Databricks, Postgres, SQL Server, DynamoDB, Oracle, and MongoDB.
A minimum of 5 years of experience developing in a structured language such as Python, Java, or C# is required.
Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience developing in Databricks using Pyspark/Databricks SQL.
Experience with data ingestion and egestion in various formats, including CSV, JSON, XML, and HL7, is essential.
Advanced knowledge of data structures and queries in both relational and non-relational databases is required.
Benefits:
The Seattle base salary range for this full-time position is $188k-$222k, with individual pay determined by work location and factors such as job-related skills and experience.
