As the first Data Platform Engineer, you will have a transformative impact on the organization, product, and future of military operational planning.
You will establish the foundation of data processing capabilities to enhance strategic vision and product decision-making.
Your role involves implementing advanced data storage and analysis solutions to improve user experience and operational efficiency.
You will collaborate closely with senior leadership, product managers, engineers, and designers to design and implement effective data strategies and architectures.
Responsibilities include collaborating with leadership to define data needs, designing a scalable data platform, building solutions for quality data delivery, and enhancing administrative tooling.

Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience; a Master's or Ph.D. is a plus.
At least 3 years of experience in data platform implementation, use, and management, and a total of 5 years in engineering or technical operations.
Strong understanding of data architecture and data modeling, with expertise in SQL and relational databases.
Knowledge of ETL processes and data integration techniques, and experience with data warehousing solutions like Redshift, BigQuery, or Snowflake.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, and TypeScript/JavaScript.
Experience with cloud providers and cloud-native technologies like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, as well as containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
Additional advantageous skills include knowledge of data governance and compliance standards related to the DoD, experience with data analytics and visualization, and familiarity with machine learning and big data technologies.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, a bias towards action, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
