The Staff Data Scientist on the Core AI team is an experienced professional skilled at translating business opportunities into technical solutions using ML/AI modeling, statistical data analysis, and experiment design.
This role requires a hands-on developer capable of driving initiatives from research to the implementation of production-ready models.
The position involves acting as a bridge between stakeholders, facilitating understanding, and guiding pragmatic approaches to applying AI in different use cases while advocating for data-informed decisions.
The Core AI team is responsible for building, managing, improving, and scaling AI capabilities across VTEX.
The Staff Data Scientist will lead efforts to leverage AI/ML solutions to enhance VTEX products and seize strategic opportunities for customers and the business.

Requirements:

Candidates must have extensive experience building and optimizing ML pipelines using frameworks like Scikit-learn, PyTorch, Tensorflow, or similar.
Fluency in designing experiments with statistical rigor, such as A/B tests and data generation experiments, is required.
Experience handling big data for analysis, feature engineering, and evaluating experiment results is necessary.
Candidates should understand the differences between research and production-level code, particularly in Python or similar languages.
A strong understanding of key requirements for deploying and maintaining ML/AI models in a production environment is essential.
Strong communication skills are required to simplify complex technical concepts into actionable insights while effectively listening and learning from diverse points of view.
Experience supporting colleagues as a technical reference and a collaborative spirit to build products that customers love are important.
Preferred qualifications include experience in Search, Recommendation, or Ads, applying LLMs using frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, LlamaIndex, or similar, MLOps experience, and developing low latency APIs.
