Description:

Varo is a digital, mission-driven bank that is FDIC insured and designed for modern consumers.
The Data Science Team at Varo builds algorithms to enhance customer access to funds, protect against fraud, and improve the in-app banking experience with real-time recommendations.
The team is in hyper-growth mode, allowing for the development of data science systems from scratch.
Responsibilities include developing production ML models for customer acquisition and engagement marketing, improving customer understanding through clustering and segmentation, designing experiments for marketing insights, collaborating with stakeholders to leverage data for business decisions, and mentoring junior data scientists.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, Economist, or Statistician, including relevant experience from PhD research.
An advanced degree in a quantitative field that includes training in machine learning and/or causal inference is required.
Experience applying a wide range of statistical techniques to large data sets is necessary, along with an understanding of their real-world advantages and drawbacks.
Proficiency in using Python for analysis and modeling, including libraries such as pandas, numpy, scikit, scipy, statsmodels, and matplotlib, is essential.
Candidates should be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in marketing optimization is a plus.

The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $210,000 per year, with final offer amounts determined by various factors including candidate experience and expertise.
