Remote Staff Database Engineer - Postgres - Query Tuning

Description:

• The Staff Database Engineer will be part of the SWAT team responsible for ensuring the stability of customer applications and infrastructure services.
• Responsibilities include providing production stability support, acting as the last level of support for customers, and working on complex systems under real-world loads.
• The role involves developing automation tools for day-to-day operations, becoming an SME in production triage, and learning about the ServiceNow platform.
• The ideal candidate should have a strong background in database technologies, performance analysis, troubleshooting skills, and a passion for solving complex issues.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of performance engineering/database experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB.
• 4+ years of experience supporting or testing large-scale web-based distributed applications.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience with SaaS, PaaS, or Cloud Infrastructure products/solutions.
• Unix skills including development, navigation, file manipulation, permissions, and administrative actions.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a willingness to learn new technologies.
• Eagerness to learn about the ServiceNow Platform.

Desired Skills:

• Experience with the ServiceNow platform, scripting, tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like shell scripting, Python, and Javascript.
• Good understanding of schemas, table spaces, indexing, and database performance optimization.
• Familiarity with CentOS/RedHat operating systems.
• Formal experience on a DevOps or Performance team supporting web-based applications.
