Description:

  • Eventbrite is seeking a Staff Design Engineer/Technical Lead to join the Marmalade Design System team, focusing on crafting scalable user interfaces and mentoring others in development best practices.
  • The role involves building and maintaining React and React Native design system libraries and a new design token architecture as the company evolves its design language and brand.
  • Team members will participate in the Marmalade ecosystem, working directly with product teams to discover features, validate system quality, and ensure timely, stable, and scalable availability of Marmalade.
  • Responsibilities include building tools that solve real problems for designers and engineers, making important decisions about system growth, and driving vision and strategy through user research and coaching.

Requirements:

  • A keen appreciation for design excellence and quality of design implementation in code is essential.
  • Expertise in design systems and their application in modern product development, particularly with web technologies, is required.
  • Deep experience in CSS architecture, including pre and post-processors, cross-browser concerns, responsive design, and web accessibility standards is necessary.
  • Proficiency in key technologies such as React, React Native, Typescript, SCSS, CSS Modules, Style Dictionary, and Storybook is required.
  • Solid knowledge of the Node.js ecosystem, particularly npm package development and versioning, is essential.
  • Experience in implementing testing for UI components to meet design, localization, and accessibility standards is required.
  • Familiarity with working in a fast-paced design system environment with a focus on git and GitHub contribution workflow is necessary.
  • Experience collaborating closely with designers and converting designs into code is essential.
  • Experience enhancing design and engineering collaboration through tools and processes is required.
  • Hands-on experience with build, test, and release methods, including CI/CD tooling and software testing techniques, is necessary.
  • A pragmatic, collaborative, and open-minded outlook is essential, along with comfort in complex stakeholder environments.
  • Bonus points for experience in native iOS and Android development environments.
