The Staff Engineer position at Nerdy is a full-time remote opportunity based in North America.
The role involves serving as a technical leader and visionary for complex systems, providing guidance, mentorship, and shaping the overarching vision of the system.
The Staff Engineer will work in a collaborative environment with Product and Design teams to enhance the experience for tutors and optimize the tutor-supply chain.
The Engagement team, responsible for student customer-facing systems, offers the opportunity to architect scalable software solutions, implement best practices, and create high-performing technology.
Nerdy, the parent company of Varsity Tutors, is a leading platform for live online learning, leveraging technology like Machine Learning and AI to connect learners to experts across various subjects and formats.
Requirements:
Minimum of 7 years of software engineering experience working on complex systems.
In-depth knowledge of modern software engineering practices, design patterns, and architectures.
Strong expertise in two or more web or web services technology stacks with a willingness to learn new technology stacks.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and problem-solving skills.
Strong ownership mentality, including coding and reviewing others' code, to implement customer-facing solutions that address true customer needs.
