Remote Staff Engineer

Description:

• The Staff Engineer position at Nerdy is a full-time remote opportunity based in North America.
• The role involves serving as a technical leader and visionary for complex systems, providing mentorship to the team, and shaping the overarching vision of the system to enhance the experience for tutors and optimize the tutor-supply chain.
• The Staff Engineer will work with the Engagement team to architect scalable software solutions for student customer-facing systems, including digital classrooms and learning tools.
• The position requires active participation in conversations on building systems and solutions that matter to customers, collaborating with Product and Design teams.
• Key responsibilities include technical leadership, solution design, code quality advocacy, collaboration with stakeholders, contributing to the engineering department's strategy and vision, problem-solving, and team development.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 7 years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of working on complex systems.
• In-depth knowledge of modern software engineering practices, design patterns, and architectures.
• Strong expertise in two or more web or web services technology stacks with a willingness to learn new technology stacks.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Strong ownership mentality, including coding and reviewing others' code, and implementing customer-facing solutions that address true customer needs.
