Remote Staff Engineer, Dell Spark

Description:

• Starburst is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their globally distributed engineering team.
• The role involves contributing to the advancement of Trino and Starburst by building the Starburst Enterprise Platform and Dell Data Lakehouse.
• Responsibilities include designing, developing, and supporting the Dell Data Lakehouse platform in collaboration with Dell Technologies.
• The engineer will continuously improve engineering processes, tests, and systems to enhance code base scalability and team productivity.
• The position requires collaboration with global teams and operating in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional customer support for both internal and external customers is also a key responsibility.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 7+ years of experience in software development.
• Prior experience in developing distributed systems is required.
• Extensive software development experience with Java is necessary.
• Strong proficiency in cloud network infrastructure, security technologies, and observability frameworks is essential.
• Demonstrated experience with software engineering and design best practices is expected.
• Candidates should appreciate creating maintainable, performant, and high-quality software as part of a high-performing global team.
• Experience in building distributed systems with Kubernetes and Fabric8 is required.
• Familiarity with Apache Spark is necessary, and experience with YuniKorn is a plus.
• Experience in building or administering Spark applications is a great advantage.
• Candidates should demonstrate ownership, grit, and a bias for action, which are core values at Starburst.
• Bonus points for familiarity with Trino and experience contributing to open-source software.
