Description:

  • As a Staff Engineer for the Capacity and Performance Engineering (CPE) Team at Cruise, you will focus on enhancing the scalability and efficiency of Cruise’s infrastructure.
  • You will collaborate with various teams daily to drive efficiency initiatives and develop automation tools.
  • Responsibilities include working with engineering to build scalable platforms, optimize existing platforms, and develop cost showback and self-service analysis structures.
  • You will lead the CPE team in cloud efficiency discovery and execution, as well as work on strategic projects shaping Cruise's future.
  • The role requires familiarity with high-performance compute clusters, scheduler logic, and resource contention tradeoff experience.
  • You will conduct capacity and performance experiments, identify infrastructure and workflow efficiency gaps, and work on automation for capacity planning.
  • The position involves coordinating changes to cross-system architectures, presenting efficiency opportunities to the executive team, and negotiating with cloud service providers for necessary capabilities.
  • Automation development, deep understanding of efficiency targets, and logic gate tradeoffs are key aspects of the role.

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with HPC clusters, Compute Platforms.
  • 8+ years of experience in a capacity or performance engineering role.
  • 5+ years of experience managing teams.
  • Expertise in application performance, public cloud providers, data modeling, budgeting, and capacity planning.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, scripting, and building automation tools.
  • Self-disciplined and able to thrive in a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
