Description:

  • The Staff Frontend Software Engineer position is a full-time contractor role based in South America, specifically in Uruguay.
  • The role involves working with a collaborative team to drive the technology of learning products and platforms.
  • Engineers at Nerdy actively participate in discussions on building systems and solutions that matter to customers.
  • The position requires architecting scalable software solutions, implementing best practices, and creating highly performant and extensible technology.
  • The Staff Front End Engineer will provide technical guidance, mentorship, and play a key role in shaping the vision of the system to enhance the experience for tutors and optimize the tutor-supply chain.
  • The role involves technical leadership, solution design, ensuring code quality, collaboration with stakeholders, contributing to the engineering department's strategy, problem-solving, and team development.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of software engineering experience with a focus on complex systems.
  • Strong experience with React and Typescript is preferred.
  • Proficiency in setting up and maintaining CD/CI workflows for Front End services.
  • In-depth knowledge of modern software engineering practices, design patterns, and architectures.
  • Experience with AWS.
  • Ability to learn new technology stacks quickly to address business problems.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Willingness to be hands-on, including coding and reviewing others' code.
  • Capability to implement customer-facing solutions that address customers' true needs.
  • Understanding and appreciation of Nerdy as an apolitical company focused on helping people learn.
