EvenUp is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to support injury law firms in providing high-quality representation and fair resolutions for injury victims.
The role involves leveraging technology, particularly large language models (LLMs), to enhance the legal system's fairness and accessibility.
The engineer will stay updated on advancements in machine learning and prompt engineering, guiding the team in adjusting their direction accordingly.
Responsibilities include building and deploying impactful models, setting best practices for prompting experimentation, and providing technical leadership and mentorship to a skilled team.
The engineer will act as a strategic advisor to organizational leaders on leveraging machine learning for business impact and will own technical roadmaps while collaborating with engineers and product managers.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 10+ years of experience in machine learning with multiple models deployed in operational settings.
A PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field is required.
Strong proficiency with the latest Large Language Model (LLM) technologies is essential.
Expertise in areas such as deep learning, reinforcement learning, probabilistic modeling, or optimization is necessary.
Strong communication, collaboration, and coaching skills are required.
High proficiency in a procedural programming language, such as Python, is needed.
The ability to translate cutting-edge research into practical solutions is crucial.
Strong leadership and mentorship abilities, along with a passion for developing team members, are expected.
