Description:
Brightwheel is seeking an experienced Staff Platform Engineer to join their platform team, which is responsible for enabling engineering teams to operate independently and deliver value to customers.
The role involves leading complex cross-team projects that enhance engineering velocity, system reliability, security, and optimize operational costs.
Responsibilities include improving coding efficiency and quality, diagnosing reliability and performance issues, and rapidly deploying code to address these issues.
The engineer will provide input to both delivery and discovery processes, ensuring a solid platform that serves customers and supports product development.
The position requires designing and architecting new software systems, driving data-driven decision-making, and promoting excellence in engineering processes and culture.
Collaboration with both technical and non-technical functions across the company is essential, as well as mentoring and growing engineering teams.
The engineer will also be involved in interviewing and evaluating engineering candidates.
Requirements:
Must have experience in API and application development, ideally in languages like Ruby, Python, or similar.
Experience in data modeling and optimizing relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL for large datasets is required.
Proficiency in integrating services with various architectures, including synchronous and asynchronous.
Expertise in building cloud infrastructure and services in AWS or equivalent is necessary.
Preferred experience includes proficiency in Ruby on Rails, knowledge of security concepts, and familiarity with common database and web technologies.
Experience with GitOps tooling for infrastructure automation and CI/CD pipeline automation is preferred.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools and containerization/orchestration tools is also desired.
