Remote Staff Security Developer, Application Security and Posture Management

Description:

• Wealthsimple is seeking a Staff Security Developer for Application Security and Posture Management, based in Toronto, Ontario, or remote.
• The role involves owning the security architecture, security tooling, and offensive security testing for applications.
• The candidate will report to the Sr. Engineering Manager and be part of the broader Security Engineering leadership function.
• The ideal candidate will have an average of 8 years of experience in security or software development, with at least 4 years in application security and 2 years in a senior role.
• Responsibilities include assessing the application security program, taking ownership of existing services, and identifying key risks in applications.
• The candidate will establish relationships with vulnerability management and product teams, execute threat modeling or pentesting opportunities, and mentor junior developers.
• The role requires defining a technical vision for the team and integrating security practices into the software development lifecycle.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have an average of 8 years of experience in security or software development, with at least 4 years in application security and 2 years as a Senior.
• Proven experience in security tooling, security architecture, and offensive security is required.
• The ability to read and write code at a Senior Developer level is necessary, with a preference for experience in Ruby, Javascript, Java, and Python.
• Excellent leadership skills and a track record of collaboration with product and development teams are essential.
• A growth mindset and a history of being a team player and coach are important for this role.
