Description:
Calendly is seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer to enhance operational maturity and provide deep hands-on expertise.
The role involves reporting to the Head of Infrastructure and delivering on the Infrastructure roadmap objectives.
The goal is to create a self-service platform for product developers to operate Calendly’s services independently.
Daily responsibilities include designing and building tools for the infrastructure platform, evaluating cloud native open source tools, and applying expertise in cloud infrastructure concepts.
The engineer will promote application observability and reliability patterns and foster a collaborative learning environment.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 12+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and/or software development.
A minimum of 4 years of experience leading technical projects is required.
The ideal candidate should have a strong desire to teach, share knowledge, and mentor others.
Experience working directly with internal customers to understand their needs and collaborate on solutions is essential.
Creative problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to resolve complex issues are necessary.
A strong understanding of the Linux operating system and systems engineering fundamentals is required.
Candidates should possess strong technical knowledge of cloud infrastructure, particularly GCP, distributed systems, and reliability practices.
Extensive experience in designing, building, and managing highly-available production infrastructure platforms is needed.
Proficiency in Golang or Python, especially in writing APIs for cloud infrastructure management, is required.
Solid knowledge of designing and implementing cloud native applications on Kubernetes is necessary.
Candidates must have robust knowledge of computer networking principles and experience with cloud networking technologies.
Extensive experience with software and infrastructure tuning and observability, particularly with Datadog, is required.
Availability for on-call rotation is necessary to respond to business-critical alerts outside of regular hours.
Candidates must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States, as Calendly does not sponsor immigration.
