Remote Staff Software Engineer

Description:

• Calibrate is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design services and systems focusing on iterative development, reliability, and simplicity.
• The role involves building, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions to address dynamic business needs.
• Responsibilities include partnering with product and design teams, leading by example, providing mentorship, and making decisions aligned with organizational objectives.
• The Staff Software Engineer will foster collaboration within the engineering team, manage technical dependencies, timelines, and deliverables for projects, and participate in rotating on-call duties, including incident management.

Requirements:

• The ideal candidate should have experience with PostgreSQL and other SQL-based databases.
• Proficiency in AWS (or other cloud services), infrastructure as code, and CI/CD is required.
• A minimum of 8 years of software development experience, with strong skills in Python (or equivalent high-level programming language), is necessary.
• Experience with mobile development is a plus.
• Strong strategic thinking, technical leadership, and mentoring skills are essential.
• Extensive experience in designing and developing scalable and maintainable software systems is a must.
• Proficiency in systematic debugging, incident management, and operational monitoring is required.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster a culture of effective communication and collaboration are necessary.
• Deep understanding of security principles and practices, with experience in driving security initiatives, is essential.
• Ability to manage risk, change, and uncertainty in a dynamic environment is required.
