Description:
Phil is a San Francisco-based, Series D health-tech startup founded in 2015, focused on streamlining the prescription process between doctors, pharmacies, and patients.
The company’s B2B2C platform provides an end-to-end prescription management and delivery service, connecting patients, prescribers, pharmacies, and manufacturers.
The Staff Software Engineer will lead development efforts for the Growth team within the Pharmacy Platform, focusing on onboarding new clients and providing technical support.
Responsibilities include designing and implementing workflows for seamless integration across networks, managing complex rule-based workflows, and architecting scalable backend systems.
The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business objectives and enhance the quality of the team’s work.
The engineer will mentor a team, document processes, and build automation test suites to improve release quality and velocity.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
Candidates must have 5+ years of software engineering experience, particularly in building and scaling large systems, with health-tech experience being a plus.
Deep knowledge of workflow engines or applications with high levels of configurations is necessary.
Strong expertise in designing scalable architectures for handling large data volumes with minimal errors is required.
Proficiency in Golang and Python, or related programming languages, is essential, along with a solid understanding of building APIs and backend services.
Experience with databases such as PostgresDB, MongoDB, or equivalent systems is required.
Candidates should have strong knowledge of distributed systems, algorithms, and data structures.
Proven ability to optimize system performance and enhance reliability is necessary.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) is required.
Familiarity with the testing pyramid and increasing test coverage in complex distributed systems is a plus.
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with a focus on error reduction, are essential.
Excellent leadership skills with experience in mentoring and managing engineering teams are required.
Experience with healthcare regulations and systems (e.g., HIPAA) is a plus.
