Remote Staff Software Engineer

Description:

• Zscaler is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to join their Engineering team in San Jose, California, with remote work options available.
• The role involves developing and managing shared infrastructure automation for US federal, regulated, and sovereign cloud environments.
• Responsibilities include improving the security of CI/CD systems and automating change management processes.
• The engineer will define and enforce DevOps standards, best practices, and procedures across the engineering team.
• The position requires automating the build-out of new Zscaler clouds and creating delivery mechanisms for operational collateral.
• Participation in an on-call rotation is required to support a highly available engineering platform and ensure compliance with federal guidelines.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, IT, or a related field is required.
• Candidates must have 5+ years of commercial services development experience.
• A minimum of 5+ years of public cloud experience, specifically with AWS or Azure, is necessary.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible is required.
• Expertise in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems is essential.
• Preferred qualifications include experience with High/Moderate FedRamp authorization levels (IL5/IL6 is a plus).
• Experience in continuous monitoring, vulnerability scanning, patching, and reporting is also preferred.
• Familiarity with multiple cloud providers (AWS, Azure) and both relational and non-relational databases for microservices is advantageous.
