Description:

Orchid Software Solutions is seeking a Staff Software Engineer specializing in AI/ML for a remote, full-time position.
The role involves setting the technical direction for AI across all Orchid products and mentoring engineers to scale intelligent capabilities.
Key responsibilities include architecting and delivering next-generation retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) services, leading the design of chatbots and document summarization pipelines, and collaborating with product and design teams.
The engineer will drive experimentation using data to validate hypotheses and ensure compliance with ethical AI usage.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 6+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years of building AI/ML-powered production features.
Deep hands-on experience with vector databases, embeddings, RAG, and orchestration frameworks like LangChain and LlamaIndex is required.
Expert-level proficiency in Python and strong TypeScript skills are necessary, with the ability to work across backend, infrastructure, and front-end layers.
A proven track record of leading projects or small teams and mentoring engineers is essential.
Advanced cloud deployment expertise, particularly with serverless and containerized workloads on AWS, is strongly preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on collaboration and knowledge sharing, are required.
Work authorization as a US Citizen or Permanent Resident is mandatory.
