Oportun is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Machine Learning Engineer to lead the development of its ML infrastructure, from model training to deployment.
The Staff Machine Learning Engineer will play a pivotal role in enhancing ML capabilities and will be responsible for creating a state-of-the-art machine learning infrastructure.
The role involves collaborating with diverse teams, including data scientists, engineers, and senior leaders, to develop innovative solutions in the FinTech space.
Responsibilities include leading the implementation of ML infrastructure, providing technical leadership, managing critical projects, collaborating with data scientists, establishing best practices, architecting deployment strategies, engineering automated CI/CD pipelines, optimizing performance benchmarks, and integrating emerging technologies.

Requirements:

A minimum of 10 years of related experience is required, along with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a Master's degree with equivalent education and experience.
Extensive experience in developing end-to-end machine learning infrastructure for complex, large-scale applications is necessary.
Proven leadership skills with a track record of guiding technical teams to achieve significant outcomes and innovation are essential.
Mastery of machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or equivalent, along with proficiency in Python programming, is required.
Deep expertise in containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) for managing complex machine learning applications is needed.
A thorough understanding of software engineering principles, version control (Git), and collaborative development workflows is essential.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and cloud-native services for building robust ML infrastructure is required.
A successful history of integrating DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, is necessary.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex technical challenges are essential.
Exceptional communication skills are required to foster collaboration across diverse teams and stakeholders.
