Description:

Basis Technologies is seeking a Staff Software Engineer specializing in applications, with a focus on building and maintaining secure authentication and authorization systems.
The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining these systems while driving large-scale technical projects that require collaboration across multiple teams.
The engineer will mentor others, set best practices, and take ownership of team deliverables and technical direction.
Responsibilities include demonstrating a deep understanding of the application's business domain, proactively identifying risks, and ensuring alignment between business goals and technical implementation.

The work environment is flexible, allowing for remote work within the U.S. and Canada.

Requirements:

Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years of professional software experience.
Experience with authentication and authorization systems, preferably OAuth 2.0, is required.
Proficiency in Java or a related language, as well as Ruby or Python, is necessary.
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes is essential.
The ability to diagnose and fix performance bottlenecks in code is required.
Experience with the entire development cycle of projects in a fast-paced workplace is expected.
Strong product and design intuition is also a requirement.

The salary range for this position is between $127,000 and $219,000, depending on role, level, and location.
The total compensation package may include commission or bonus, company equity, and competitive benefits.
