Description:
Brightwheel is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for their School Operations team, focused on enhancing the product experience for early childhood educators.
The role involves leading projects to ensure brightwheel functions exceptionally for customers, working with product and design teams to implement new features, and providing input on delivery and discovery processes.
The engineer will be responsible for maintaining quality, scalability, security, and performance, while also designing new software systems and introducing new technologies to support growth.
Sharing knowledge and mentoring other engineers is a key aspect of the position.

Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of professional experience, ideally in fast-paced early- or mid-stage startups.
Proficiency in contributing to and designing APIs using Ruby on Rails or similar technologies is required.
Expertise in writing automated tests (unit/integration/functional) and using Git or equivalent version control systems is necessary.
Experience with third-party integrations, variation testing, and a variety of codebase sizes and ages is expected.
Proficiency with AWS or other cloud platforms and experience in architecting distributed systems for scalability and reliability is essential.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences are required.
Experience with microservice or service-oriented architectures, modern web applications like React.js, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is preferred.
Candidates with varying backgrounds are encouraged to apply, and prior knowledge of the specific technologies in the stack is not mandatory.
