Machinify is seeking a Sr/Staff Software Engineer, Backend | ML to join their AI-focused healthcare startup.
The role involves a 60/40% split between backend web app development and ML platform infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have experience building infrastructure or tooling for ML/AI platforms, particularly in getting LLMs production-ready.
Data modeling experience is beneficial as this hire will work closely with the Tech Lead - ML Platform.
The engineering team is composed of skilled software developers and data engineers who write impactful code for customers and future product lines.
The team focuses on leveraging NLP/LLM techniques for healthcare applications and builds highly performant ML and AI products.
Responsibilities include contributing to the ML platform, building data platform infrastructure, prioritizing customer deliverables and tech debt, designing complex frameworks for ML techniques, and delivering resilient enterprise software solutions.

Requirements:

Candidates must have extensive experience in web application programming.
A background in ML with production experience in building ML/AI infrastructure or tools is required.
Strong working experience with Java is necessary.
Experience writing SQL queries is essential.
Knowledge of Python, Scala, C++, or C# is a plus.
A strong foundation in computer science, including data structures and asynchronous programming, is required.
Candidates should have a strong test writing discipline.
Experience in reading and understanding complex enterprise-grade code and contributing to it is necessary.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a high-growth environment are essential.
Candidates must be comfortable with ambiguity and able to take initiative when required.
A BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required.
