The Staff Software Engineer role involves deep technical debugging, on-the-fly API integrations, and problem-solving in chaotic situations.
Candidates should be confident in their ability to reverse-engineer broken systems and stitch together APIs.
The role primarily supports high-profile clients and requires collaboration with project delivery and engineering teams.
Responsibilities include being accountable for the full technical scope of products, investigating and resolving technical bugs, and supporting legacy and modern web platforms.
The engineer will debug and optimize the product stack across various environments and build and consume RESTful APIs.
The position also involves serving as a technical escalation point, collaborating with developers, and writing scripts to aid in debugging.
Participation in client calls and supporting ongoing project delivery efforts through technical fixes is expected.
The engineer may also assist in QA and testing when deep technical insight is required.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 10+ years of experience in web development, software engineering, or escalated technical support roles.
A diverse background in roles, responsibilities, or employers is required.
Strong working knowledge of web technologies such as PHP, .NET, JavaScript, AEM, Drupal, Shopify, and Stripe is necessary.
Proven experience in building and consuming APIs in the Travel, Hospitality, or E-commerce sectors is essential.
Comfort with CLI tools, Git, and debugging production issues is required.
Candidates should not be deterred by vague bug reports or tracking down undocumented legacy logic.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly figure things out are crucial.
Self-motivation and an interest in developing sustainable solutions are important traits.
Clear communication skills are necessary for explaining technical issues to project managers and documenting work.
Prior experience in client-facing or agency environments is a plus.
