Description:

  • Cruise is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Build Platform team, focusing on the C++ ecosystem for self-driving vehicles.
  • The role involves designing and implementing improvements to the Python development ecosystem and workflows to enhance engineering productivity.
  • Collaborating with engineers across the company to support their development workflows.
  • Leading technical projects, making major technical decisions, and driving large-scale initiatives that span teams.
  • Participating in planning, code reviews, and design discussions, contributing impactful projects to the team’s roadmap.
  • Driving software engineering best practices, creating tooling to support these practices, and mentoring other engineers.
  • Conducting technical interviews, contributing to recruiting activities, and fostering a positive team culture.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience, preferably with large-scale build systems.
  • 3+ years of experience leading and driving cross-team initiatives.
  • Proficiency in developer tooling, build systems, and C++, with experience in compiler toolchain integrations.
  • Ability to lead projects across multiple teams, attention to detail, and a desire to improve processes and systems.
  • Deep understanding of technology tradeoffs and a passion for self-driving technology and its potential impact on the world.
