Remote Staff Software Engineer

Description:

• The Staff Software Engineer position at Shippo involves leading the design and deployment of scalable, resilient software services that handle millions of requests daily to meet SLAs and complex business needs.
• Responsibilities include promoting microservices and efficient data models for system scalability, enhancing the CI/CD pipeline for automated testing and safe production releases, owning system performance, architecting high-performance database schemas, leading system design and refactoring, participating in peer reviews and testing, collaborating with business teams, providing on-call support, championing best practices in testing and automation, and engaging in business development efforts.
• The role requires proven leadership experience, technical expertise in designing scalable APIs and services, exceptional communication and collaboration skills, customer focus and innovation, proficiency in server-side programming languages and database design, strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, commitment to technical excellence, and advanced English fluency.
• Nice to have qualifications include experience with Site Reliability Engineering principles, cloud services like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, managing Kubernetes, working with shipping or postal carriers, using Python and Golang in production, familiarity with microservices architectures, integrating with REST, SOAP, gRPC APIs, performance tuning, security, data analytics, and web stack, experience with Django, DevOps tooling, and AWS/Cloud services.
