Remote Staff Software Engineer, Cloud Networking at Starburst

Description:

Starburst is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Network Infrastructure to join their globally distributed engineering team.
The role involves designing, developing, and operating cloud networking and observability infrastructure for the highly available Starburst Galaxy Control Plane.
Responsibilities include continuously improving engineering processes, tests, and systems to enhance code base scalability and team productivity.
The engineer will build resilient systems to monitor infrastructure performance, diagnose and troubleshoot issues, and optimize system performance.
Collaboration with global teams in a fast-paced environment is essential.
The position also requires providing exceptional customer support for both internal and external customers.

Candidates must have prior experience developing distributed systems.
Extensive software development experience with Java is required.
Strong proficiency in cloud network infrastructure, particularly with service mesh technologies like Istio, Linkerd, or ServiceComb, as well as security technologies and observability frameworks.
Demonstrated experience with software engineering and design best practices is necessary.
An appreciation for creating maintainable, performant, and high-quality software as part of a fun, high-performing global team is expected.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $215,000 - $255,000, subject to standard withholding and applicable taxes.
