Description:
Vanta is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for their Core Platform team, responsible for identifying key strategic technical initiatives that impact the entire engineering team and deliver significant value to the business.
The role involves setting a high bar for engineering culture and excellence, leveraging past experience to enable and accelerate Vanta’s growth.
Staff Software Engineers will build solid infrastructure foundations and high-leverage developer tools that allow engineering teams to quickly create and improve high-quality products.
Responsibilities include identifying, scoping, and leading large technical projects related to the build system, developer workflows, and key infrastructure and services.
The engineer will lead design reviews, communicate constraints, and ensure the right trade-offs are made.
The role requires paving the path for new critical infrastructure to support continued rapid growth.
The engineer will design, develop, and own new product functionality and infrastructure using modern frameworks and tooling such as TypeScript, Terraform, and Node.js.
Effective trade-offs must be made considering business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation.
The engineer will act as a cultural beacon, mentoring junior team members and setting an example for effective, collaborative engineering.
Requirements:
Candidates must have at least 8 years of industry experience as a software engineer.
Experience leading initiatives to improve developer experience and resolve infrastructure challenges related to scale, reliability, and performance is required.
The candidate should have served as a technical lead for large projects lasting 6 months or more, including defining the roadmap for complex projects across multiple teams and functions.
Experience building successful SaaS product foundations for both startup and enterprise users is necessary.
The candidate should have a track record of upleveling teams of engineers through mentoring and leading by example.
Experience working in rapidly scaling startups and large companies, particularly in environments that prioritize a bias for action, is essential.
