Description:
Lark is seeking a talented Staff Software Engineer to act as a technical lead for the data and analytics engineering teams.
The role involves providing technical vision and oversight for a team of data engineers and analytics engineers.
The goal is to deliver data products flexibly to meet the diverse needs of external clients and internal colleagues in analytics.
The Staff Software Engineer will ensure that engineers make the best technical decisions for the data platform and stakeholders.
The position emphasizes a player-coach approach, where engineering leaders are hands-on and actively involved in scrum ceremonies.
Responsibilities include serving the needs of data consumers, guiding architectural choices, partnering with leadership on technical strategy, and collaborating with senior engineers.
The role also involves managing relationships with data vendors, coordinating project plans, building a culture of engineering best practices, and mentoring team members.
Requirements:
Candidates must have deep experience developing data platform infrastructure and ETL/ELT design and implementation.
Expertise in SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Scala, Go) is required.
A background working with distributed big data technologies such as Spark, Presto, Hive, and data warehouse technologies including Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift is necessary.
Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills are essential, with experience working across data and consumer teams.
Experience with implementing microservice architectures, event-based processing, and streaming pipelines, including expertise with Kafka and Spark Streaming, is required.
Candidates should have experience managing healthcare data, including HIPAA compliance and Safe Harbor.
Experience mentoring data and analytics engineers with varying levels of expertise is necessary.
Familiarity with implementing CI/CD practices and infrastructure as code, especially Terraform, is required.
