Jobgether is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Devices for a remote position based in New York.
This role is ideal for an experienced software engineer who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about advancing clean energy.
The Staff Software Engineer will lead the design and development of scalable backend systems, transitioning from a monolithic to a microservices architecture.
Responsibilities include ensuring new device integrations are flexible and future-proof while building core infrastructure to support distributed energy resources.
This is a hands-on leadership role that involves applying technical expertise, mentoring engineers, and shaping the future of the platform.
Key accountabilities include architecting and implementing core platform services, driving migration to microservices, leading database design initiatives, developing backend solutions using Java, collaborating with cross-functional teams, championing best practices, and mentoring engineers.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 7+ years of experience in professional software development, including staff-level or leadership responsibilities.
Strong backend experience is required, particularly with Java (Java 11+) and familiarity with scripting languages such as Python.
Expertise in designing RESTful APIs, contract-first development, and scalable system architectures is essential.
Experience in database modeling and development using relational databases, with a preference for PostgreSQL, is necessary.
The ability to lead technical projects with minimal supervision while balancing long-term vision and short-term delivery is required.
Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, particularly in cross-functional, agile environments.
Familiarity with AWS, RabbitMQ, MongoDB, and frontend frameworks like React/TypeScript is a bonus.

The position offers a competitive salary ranging from $150,000 to $194,000 USD.
