Description:

  • Phil is a San Francisco-based, Series D health-tech startup founded in 2015, focused on streamlining the prescription process between doctors, pharmacies, and patients.
  • The company’s B2B2C platform provides an end-to-end prescription management and delivery service, connecting patients, prescribers, pharmacies, and manufacturers.
  • Phil aims to enhance patient access to medicine and improve treatment adherence through innovative digital solutions.
  • The Staff Software Engineer will lead development efforts for the Growth team within the Pharmacy Platform, focusing on onboarding new clients and providing technical support.
  • Responsibilities include designing and implementing workflows for seamless integration across networks, architecting scalable backend systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • The role emphasizes quality, accountability, and timely delivery to build client trust and credibility.
  • The engineer will also mentor a team, document processes, and build automation test suites to enhance release quality.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
  • Candidates must have 5+ years of software engineering experience, particularly in building and scaling large systems; health-tech experience is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of workflow engines or applications with high configuration levels is necessary.
  • Strong expertise in designing scalable architectures for large data volumes with minimal errors is required.
  • Proficiency in Golang and Python, or related programming languages, with experience in building APIs and backend services is essential.
  • Experience with databases such as PostgresDB, MongoDB, or equivalent systems is required.
  • Candidates should have strong knowledge of distributed systems, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Proven ability to optimize system performance and enhance reliability is necessary.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) is required.
  • Familiarity with the testing pyramid and increasing test coverage in complex distributed systems is necessary.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with a focus on error reduction, are essential.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience in mentoring and managing engineering teams are required.
  • Experience with healthcare regulations and systems (e.g., HIPAA) is a plus.
