Description:

  • Jobber is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Expansion Team, which focuses on empowering users to make informed decisions for their business success.
  • The role involves leading and mentoring teams of engineers while collaborating with Product and Design partners to address complex technical challenges.
  • Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact features, shaping the product roadmap, leading large-scale initiatives, participating in code reviews, and promoting best practices.
  • The position requires effective communication of technical concepts to diverse audiences and providing mentorship to team members.
  • The work environment is flexible, allowing employees to work remotely across Canada or in a hybrid setting from offices in Edmonton or Toronto.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have demonstrated expertise in developing scalable software solutions across multiple technology stack layers.
  • Proven leadership experience in guiding teams through complex projects and serving as a technical lead is essential.
  • Exceptional proficiency in software design, architecture, and coding, focusing on maintainability and performance, is required.
  • Outstanding collaboration and communication skills are necessary to enhance team productivity through mentorship.
  • Strong self-motivation and resourcefulness, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and prioritize tasks effectively, are important.
  • A passion for continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends is expected.
  • Experience with the development stack, including React, React Native, TypeScript, GraphQL API layer, and Ruby on Rails on AWS, is preferred.
  • Experience leading cross-team initiatives and projects would be a plus.
