Remote Staff Software Engineer, File Ingestion Platform

Description:

• 1upHealth is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join the engineering team responsible for building an enterprise-grade next-gen File Ingestion Platform.
• The team will work on a diverse set of software components and APIs for data ingestion and transformations.
• The role involves taking ownership of new products and services, as well as continuously improving existing offerings.
• Responsibilities include defining and owning the technical vision for the team, partnering with PM and EM to develop roadmaps, and providing technical feasibility and effort estimates for ambiguous requirements.
• The engineer will identify systemic issues with the platform and collaborate with engineers to lead effective solutions.
• Establishing best practices for the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) within the organization is essential.
• The role requires independently designing high-impact projects and producing excellent design documentation while providing feedback for others.
• Participation in the development of APIs and services to scale the platform is expected.
• The engineer will advocate for engineering best practices, mentor other engineers, and improve the operational health of the software owned by the team.
• Leading the design and implementation of monitoring, alerting, and diagnostics systems to ensure high performance and reliability across services is also a key responsibility.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 8+ years of experience in a backend software engineering role.
• Experience with modern data technologies such as Apache Kafka, Apache Iceberg, and Apache Spark, as well as serverless cloud architectures, is required.
• Candidates should have experience securely building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with modern Cloud Infrastructure, specifically AWS, is necessary.
• A strong knowledge of data ontologies/schemas and structured data types (XML, CSV, JSON) is required.
• Experience with the system design of Ingestion/ETL systems is essential.
• Proficiency in relational or non-relational databases is required.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies is necessary.
• Knowledge of healthcare data standards and communication (FHIR, HL7v2) is a plus.
• Container/orchestration experience (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and experience with Apache Nifi are desirable.
• Experience developing, testing, and debugging Java applications and services is also a plus.
