Description:
Plotly, a leading innovator in data visualization and analytics, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for their App Studio team.
The role involves converting Jupyter notebook-based applications into efficient and interactive Dash applications.
Responsibilities include building new products to enhance productivity for data scientists and analysts, acting as a technical leader for web-based products, and collaborating with UX/UI designers and product managers.
The technologies used include JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Python, and unconventional technologies like Abstract Syntax Tree (AST) and Jupyter kernels.
Core responsibilities include technical leadership, UI development, architectural decision-making, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and staying updated on industry trends.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
8+ years of experience as a Full Stack Engineer with expertise in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.
Proven track record in a technical engineering role, including contribution to user-facing applications.
Passion for building user-facing software in data visualization and analytics.
Familiarity with data visualization libraries and concepts.
Ability to work efficiently in a remote-first environment, strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and dedication to writing clean code.
Desire to work in a fast-paced environment, learn new technologies, and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Assets include experience with computational notebooks, Python data stack, GraphQL, NestJS, Kubernetes, CI/Github Actions, Docker, and automated code generation using AST.
