Description:
Brightwheel is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Full-Stack to join their remote team in the US.
The mission of Brightwheel is to provide high-quality early education for every child, supporting teachers, engaging parents, and enabling small businesses in the early education industry.
The role involves leading the Activation team to ensure customers can quickly get up and running on the Brightwheel platform.
Responsibilities include understanding customer needs, delivering software solutions, operating in an agile environment, and collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams to implement new features.
The engineer will advocate for technical advancements, ensure quality, scalability, security, and performance, and design new software systems or introduce new technologies.
Mentorship across the engineering team is also a key aspect of the role.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of professional experience, preferably in fast-paced early- or mid-stage startups.
Proficiency in contributing to and designing APIs using Ruby on Rails or similar technologies is required.
Experience with various codebase sizes and ages is necessary.
Proficiency with AWS or other cloud platforms is essential.
Candidates should have experience architecting distributed systems for scalability and reliability.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences are required.
Experience with microservice or service-oriented architectures is preferred.
Familiarity with modern web applications like React.js is preferred.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is preferred.
A strong interest in leveraging AI to improve engineering efficiency is desired.
Candidates with varying backgrounds are encouraged to apply, and prior knowledge of the technologies in the stack is not required.
