Description:

  • Motive is seeking a Staff Software Engineer specializing in IoT Cloud to play a crucial role in architecting the IoT platform for scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
  • The role involves leading the design and development of components and services, collaborating with platform engineers, and working with Product and Embedded engineers to bring product ideas to life.
  • Responsibilities include promoting best IoT practices, writing secure and maintainable code, leading code reviews, and guiding software architecture decisions.
  • The Staff IoT Engineer will be a resource for the product team to assess technical feasibility, build and scale data models, and make scalable design choices for API interfaces.
  • Additionally, the role involves building software to improve service cost, reduce iteration time, enhance decision-making, and ensure system health through monitoring and debugging.
  • Effective communication across teams and projects, active work on AWS cloud infrastructure, and mentoring developers within the engineering organization are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related field.
  • 10+ years of software development experience.
  • 5+ years of IoT Cloud experience.
  • 3+ years of MQTT experience.
  • Proficiency in Ruby (Rails), GoLang, Java, Python, or NodeJS.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases like PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, and Cassandra.
  • Knowledge of scaling, troubleshooting, migrations, and security of distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with Cloud Infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, Azure, or private clouds.
  • Experience with CI/CD and version control, preferably Git.
