Description:
Twilio is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join their Phone Numbers team, responsible for the systems powering Twilio’s Global Inventory.
The role involves designing, building, and deploying distributed systems and microservices architecture, working closely with Product and Design teams.
The Staff Engineer will be responsible for building low latency, highly scalable APIs and mentoring junior engineers.
Key responsibilities include architecting for growth, building a strong technical foundation, modernizing software, mentoring, effective communication and collaboration, and participating in an on-call rotation.
The ideal candidate should have 8+ years of experience in designing scalable distributed systems, 7+ years of Java experience, 5+ years of relational database understanding, practical experience with cloud platforms like AWS, and excellent communication skills.
Desired qualifications include prior experience with PHP, knowledge of modern front-end technologies, and experience with security best practices for distributed systems.
This remote position is based in India, with approximately 5% anticipated travel.
Requirements:
8+ years of experience designing, building, and deploying large, scalable distributed systems and microservices architectures.
7+ years of Java experience, including advanced concepts like concurrency, threading, and performance optimization.
5+ years of experience with relational databases like MySQL, including query optimization and data modeling principles.
Practical experience with cloud platforms like AWS, including containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage conflict effectively.
Experience mentoring junior engineers and being on call for high scale production systems.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent).
