Description:

  • The Staff Software Engineer L4 position at Twilio is focused on leading a team in the technical capacity of Twilio Segment Warehouse Activation.
  • Responsibilities include designing and building the next generation of Warehouse Activation platform, processing billions of events, and supporting various use cases for Twilio Segment customers.
  • The role involves collaborating with engineering and product leads, ensuring platform reliability and security, building and optimizing scalable distributed systems, and mentoring other engineers on technical architecture and design.
  • The position requires working closely with application teams to deliver end-to-end customer success and acting as a team Tech Lead when necessary.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in writing production-grade code, designing fault-tolerant distributed systems, programming in languages like Go, Java, or Scala, operating large-scale systems on cloud infrastructure, and working with message passing and stream processing systems.
  • Additionally, expertise in container orchestration frameworks, CI/CD development paradigm, architectural patterns of high-scale web applications, and domain knowledge in the Modern Data stack is preferred.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience writing production-grade code in a modern programming language.
  • Strong theoretical fundamentals and hands-on experience designing fault-tolerant distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Go, Java, Scala, or similar.
  • Knowledge of concurrent programming, Linux systems, and networking concepts.
  • Experience operating large-scale systems on cloud infrastructure like AWS or GCP.
  • Familiarity with message passing systems and modern stream processing systems.
  • Hands-on experience with container orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience in shipping services following CI/CD development paradigm.
  • Deep understanding of architectural patterns of high-scale web applications.
  • Ideally, domain expertise in the Modern Data stack.
  • Track record of successfully leading teams or projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
